Make a difference through creativity

At Brandon Trust, we’re all about enabling people with learning disabilities and autistic people to live the lives they choose. Our ClayArt studio in Plymouth is a vibrant, public-facing pottery space where creativity meets supported employment — and we’re looking for a Studio Technician to be part of it.

This is a hands-on, rewarding role where you’ll help keep the studio running smoothly, support great customer experiences, and empower people to build skills, confidence, and independence through meaningful work.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll play a key role in the day-to-day life of the studio, including:

‍ Studio operations & customer experience

  • Opening, setting up, and closing the studio safely
  • Welcoming customers and supporting “paint your own pottery” sessions
  • Maintaining a clean, organised and inviting space
  • Promoting the studio and creating a positive visitor experience

 Supported employment

  • Supporting adults with learning disabilities and autistic people in a working studio environment
  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and skill development
  • Role modelling positive workplace behaviours
  • Helping supervise the studio in the absence of the Project Leader

 Creative & technical support

  • Supporting safe use of ceramics, tools, and materials
  • Assisting with kiln operations (training provided if needed)
  • Supporting workshops, classes, and events
  • Maintaining high standards of quality across all work

 Safety & teamwork

  • Following safeguarding, health & safety, and risk procedures
  • Working closely with colleagues, supported employees, and partners
  • Keeping accurate records and supporting smooth studio operations

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about inclusion and empowering others
  • Confident working in a customer-facing environment
  • Practical, organised, and proactive
  • A strong communicator who enjoys teamwork
  • Calm, flexible, and able to adapt in a busy environment

Experience with ceramics or creative studios is helpful, but not essential — what matters most is your values and willingness to learn.

Why join Brandon?

  • Be part of a values-led organisation making a real impact
  • Work in a creative, supportive, and inclusive environment
  • Opportunities for training and development
  • A role where no two days are the same.
